Write emails with AI

The short answer

To write an email with AI, email a short prompt to your private Airbox address — for example, “write a polite email asking my landlord to fix the heating.” Airbox sends it to your own AI model and emails back a finished draft you can review and send. It works as an AI email writer right inside the inbox you already use: no app to open, no copy-paste, and no per-email markup.

How to do it

  1. Get a free Airbox address and connect your AI provider key (Claude, ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and more).
  2. Email your Airbox address with what you want written — put the prompt on the subject or first line.
  3. Airbox emails back a clean draft. Copy it into a new message, or reply to tweak it (“shorter,” “warmer,” “add a deadline”).

Example

No need to forward anything — just send the prompt:

Subject: write to my team

(* @claude write a short, upbeat email announcing we hit 1,000 customers and thanking the team *)

Add a Context doc with your writing samples and every draft comes back in your voice.

What you can write

  • Announcements, updates, and intros
  • Outreach and cold emails (see the cold email guide)
  • Polite asks, declines, and apologies
  • Follow-ups and nudges on stalled threads
  • Anything you'd type into a chatbot — without leaving email

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to forward an email, or can I write from scratch?
From scratch. Just email your Airbox address with the prompt — no forward required. To base a draft on an existing message, forward that message and add your instruction.
Does Airbox send emails to other people for me?
By design, Airbox emails the result back to you to review and send — it never sends to arbitrary recipients on its own, so untrusted email content can't trick it into emailing a stranger. It can reply in an existing thread when you ask, and it can email you a clean copy, but you stay in control of anything that goes to a third party.
How is this different from ChatGPT?
Same models, different surface. You use your own provider key and never leave your inbox — write, get the draft, and send, all over email, with no separate app or subscription markup.
How much does it cost?
Airbox has a free plan to get started. You bring your own AI provider API key, so you pay the provider directly for the tokens you use — there is no AI markup from Airbox.
